“I was referred to Dr. Hott by a family friend and I have to say that I am so grateful to have met such an extraordinary doctor. He had done my mom’s back surgery and it was a success!! Then he saw me about 10 years ago when I was 20 years old, telling me if I can try so many other things before having surgery since I was really young. “I had been in excruciating pain for like seemed forever. I went to my PCP with my symptoms and I was given a topical along with a referral to a Pain Management Doctor. Well, once at the Pain Management – I had my nerves burned in my back. It was one painful procedure and two surgeries by which I was put under with a very expensive bill that I am still paying on. Some history before Dr Hott did my surgery: I lived a year with extreme nerve pain, unable to walk more than 50 feet, spent a year laying in a recliner, unable to do anything. “In 2011, I had two cervical levels fused by another doctor. In late 2019, some of the symptoms returned, but on the other side. I work with lots of folks who have been in accidents requiring neurosurgery and those folks always spoke so highly of Dr. Hott. I knew Dr. Hott’s reputation was conservative; surgery was the last resort. Unfortunately, as feared an adjacent level herniated and was pushing on my spinal cord and impinging nerves. There were no non-surgical options available, so I underwent a second 2 level fusion. I cannot believe the difference in the surgeries. The second surgery is supposed to be harder, riskier, and more difficult to recover from. I never took more than Tylenol for the pain and was discharged the next day. I am 16 days out, driving, and have only taken Tylenol once or twice per day since the surgery. He is kind, warm, and explained every single step to me. His office did all the work of getting approvals, scheduling appointments, and following up!”

Well needless to say one year ago today I ended up having back surgery. “I was having severe pain in my left buttock and down the outside of my thigh and back of my calf. It was very difficult walking and standing. Many times, I would have to stop and get into a downhill ski racer crouch to alleviate the pain. Dr Hott performed L4-L5 laminectomy and spinal fusion to relieve the nerve pressure due to spinal stenosis. I stayed 4 nights in the hospital and it wasn’t much of a picnic…but that was to be expected…this was major surgery. Now, 4 months later, I’m doing much better (71 years old, btw). “My experience with Dr. Hott has been nothing but positive. I’m a 49 year old male who was experiencing severe nerve pain in my left arm. The pain was intense and it caused me to be miserable and unable to sleep for a little over a month. I met with Dr. Hott and discussed my situation and we went over the MRI. “As a nurse, who was working in the neuro/ortho field, I did everything I could to avoid surgery. But after “failing” at PT, and going through a series of 4 steroid injections, and still having pain so back it woke me up crying, I knew it was time to take the next step and have surgery. I also knew the surgeon I wanted because I had taken care of his patients while they were in the hospital, and I saw how amazing and complete he was with the patients and their families at the bedside. I was also impressed with the positive outcomes post-op – how well his patients did. I let Dr Hott know my pain was getting worse, not better. I also let him know that I was losing the strength in my right arm and hand. He got me in immediately for an appointment and the plan was made for surgery. His staff is wonderful. “After getting an MRI and consulting with an orthopedic surgeon, it was determined a cervical discectomy was the only way to relieve the pain and/or numbness in my left shoulder, arm, and hand. At the recommendation of my wife, an RN with Honor Health, and her co-worker nurses who had or knew of someone that had similar procedures successfully done by Dr. Hott I consulted with him for a second opinion. After a couple of corticosteroid injections by a pain management physician, in addition to physical therapy to try to relieve the pain without surgery, I decided to have the cervical discectomy with fusion done by Dr. Hott. The result could not have been any better. All expectations and processes were fully explained by Dr. Hott and his professional staff. The pressure on the nerve from the herniated disc is gone, and so is the pain. My left hand was stronger immediately after surgery and only some numbness remains in my left pinkie finger which may go away altogether. Overall I am very satisfied and happy I had Dr. Hott do this procedure. Everything went well. Minimal pain, quick recovery, a very small scar which is hardly noticeable. Dr. Hott is personable, friendly, funny, but most importantly hyper-competent.
During my 1st visit, Dr. Hott explained to me in simple to understand terms what I needed to fix my spinal problem. Dr. Hott said that I needed surgery followed by physical therapy. He answered all my questions about spinal surgery including the surgical procedure, risks involved, and expectations for successful results.
Dr. Hott’s office crew is very small. Cathy and Heather know who you are and why you are there as soon as you walk into the office. Within one week, Cathy had me scheduled for two Primary Care Physician appointments, sent paperwork to my cardiologist to sign-off on my upcoming surgery, and most importantly contacted my Health Care Insurance Provider to O.K. my surgery.

“After decades of working in lumber mills and machine shops and being an avid runner, I had severe pain in my hips and legs and thought I needed hip replacement surgery. The hip specialist checked me out and said it wasn’t my hips and sent me for an MRI. The diagnosis was severe spinal senosis in my neck and lumbar. I always research doctors thoroughly and only will consider those who have written reviews. Dr. Hott had great reviews so we gave him a call. I was told it would be a while before I could be seen. They asked if I’d had a recent MRI for the Dr to look at. They called later that afternoon and said the Dr wanted to see me the next day! Dr Hott was friendly, professional, and whip-smart. He thoroughly explained what was going on, options and patiently answered my questions. Sometimes several times over if I needed. I was in surgery within 2 weeks for my cervical stenosis. Especially when several of the OR nurses said we had one of the best surgeons. The surgery was very successful and I was home the next day. That was last year. “I spent many years with pain in my neck and have had at least 5 MRI’s on my cervical spine since about 1999. I’d tried physical therapy, traction, chiropractics, anesthetic injections, massage, and many other modalities throughout the years. After an episode where once again I strained and inflamed my neck and was out from work for 3 weeks and had another MRI, I decided to look into surgery. A friend who had been a referral assistant for a Dr. recommended Dr. Hott. “I’m a very active person, working out 6-7 days a week. So, when I developed a back injury, which caused leg numbness and constant pain in my back I feared the worse. I had already tried yoga, acupuncture, massage, and a chiropractor to try and lessen my pain but nothing helped. Then I went to see Dr Hott. I explained to him my symptoms and how it was disrupting my normal lifestyle. I also informed him that I really didn’t want to have surgery if I didn’t need it.
